Rainforest - "Jewels of the Earth"

Rainforests are characterized by a closed and continuous tree canopy, moisture-dependent vegetation, the presence of epiphytes and lianas, and the absence of wildfire. Rainforests can be classified as tropical rainforests or temperate rainforests, but other types have been described.   Estimates vary from 40% to 75% of all biotic species being indigenous to the rainforests. There may be many millions of species of plants, insects, and microorganisms still undiscovered in tropical rainforests   Rain Forest Layers There are four major layers in a rain forest: emergent, canopy, understory, and forest floor. Each layer has unique characteristics based on differing levels of water, sunlight, and air circulation. While each layer is distinct, they exist in an interdependent system: processes and species in one layer influence those in another.   Rain forest understories are home to some of the most endangered and familiar rain forest animals—such as forest e...

Environments by facts

The Main Ingredient of the environment is air, water, and soil. Imbalances in nature could be disastrous. Although every ingredient gives symptoms differently but the summation of all these imbalances could finish the whole world. Earth has limited resources. Only 3% of planet earth’s water is drinkable. 97 % of it is saltwater. More than half of the Earth’s freshwater can be found frozen in the glaciers. The rest is underground. On pollution in water, 6 to 8 million people die annually from water-borne diseases and disasters. Whereas air pollution is increasing the temperature of the earth by adding gases carbon to pure air. Now The ozone layer “Hole” which is 29 million square kilometers, is expected to be fully healed in the next 55 years by banning chlorofluorocarbons and hydrofluorocarbon is heating up the earth's atmosphere. In the last 170 years, we added 2.4 trillion tons of CO2 into our atmosphere, Half of this was added in the last 35 to 50 years. When we talk abo...

What is EPA?

EPA aimed to protect the environment for sustainable development. Everyday rising temperature, melting of glaciers and ozone depletion cause the worst effect on human beings. That’s why the world is giving more attention than anywhere else. Aims and Objectives of the EPA The chief aims and objectives of the Environment Protection Act, 1986 are listed below. Implementing the decisions made at the United Nations Conference on Human Environment held in Stockholm. Creation of government authority to regulate an industry that can issue direct orders including closure orders. Coordinating activities of different agencies that are operating under the existing laws. Enacting regular laws for the protection of the environment. Imposing punishments and penalties on those who endanger the environment, safety, and health. For each failure or contravention, the punishment includes a prison term of up to five years or a fine of ...
