Social Forest is a social cause because it aims for
environmental improvement. The group first works to clean up the environment
which becomes an opportunity for the community to get involved in social
forestry. It engages the local community to plant trees and take care of the
green areas in their area.
Thanks to the internet and social media, we are all connected. Our world has become a global village. But, in spite of this tremendous technological achievement, we haven't yet learned how to live together in peace. So why not do what we've always done?
Trees unite us - from the first trees (Walden by Thoreau) to
the cherry blossoms of Japan, the banyan trees in India, and the acacia trees
in Africa. Trees create unity above us, they inspire us, they look after us and
they feed us. They are renewable energy providers that can withstand climate
change and pollution. Trees make up for our social flaws and shortcomings.
There is a lot of pressure in modern society to conform, to
fit in. We see this pressure throughout our lives: in school, at work, at
home... and oftentimes it is the people that are most successful that fall prey
to this. They quit what they love and try to conform so they can be happy...
